A Poorly Attended Night of Wonder

This is the small piece of avant-garde note paper I was given when I took part in an audience participation exhibit during SCOTIABANK Nuit Blanche presented by SCOTIABANK (p.s. SCOTIABANK) on the streets of Toronto late last night. We all squeezed onto this large red sculpture which was actually capable of self-powered locomotion. I found the experience quite thrilling and it challenged my concepts of individualism and existence, but the other participants didn’t really seem to “get it”. When we got to High Park station they simply disembarked, giving virtually no indication that they appreciated or even were fully cognisant of the transcendental and transient experience that had coalesced around us from simple materials, the artist’s intent, and our shared, chance encounter.
